George W. actually shows up at Dallas’ Elliott’s Hardware

According to CNN, George W. "Ex-president" Bush actually showed up at Elliott's Hardware on Saturday in response to the part-time position offering put forth by Elliott's president Kyle Walters on Feb. 5.

Sadly, Mr. Walters was out of town on Saturday (Uh huh - SURE you were, Kyle), and thus was unable to converse in person with the former chief executive of the U.S. of A., and perhaps up the hourly wage offer.

As Kyle says in regard to the greeter position, "I guess it pays less than what he has been making."

Plus, there's those pesky Secret Service agents to think about - they'd probably have to frisk everybody who came in to buy a screwdriver.

(There's also a fertilizer joke to be made here, but you're not going to hear it from me.)

I was hoping Bush would only live here on paper- not actually invading my favorite hardware store. Is it illegal to tell a former president that you think he handled our country like a total ass to his face?

It's not illegal to publicly tell a former president off, as long as it is not done in a threatening manner. Wouldn't it be better if you gave the guy the silent treatment instead? Abuse, he can take and dish out. The cold shoulder and silent treatment - that drives him nuts.

Through all this, I keep thinking "What if I actually NEEDED a tool or something and HE was the guy at the door to ask?" Their greeters are always spot on target with help. I'm seeing it all play out like this:

W - "Weulllcome, uhm, to Elliotts, uhm, sort of, Hardware, you might say"

J - "Yeah, I need a pair of full throw casters and a matched pair of fixed to make a dolly"

W - "Well, uhm, It's about fixing those casters over there before we have to, as it is, fix them here on American soil, in so many words"

J - "Ok, thanks, so like, I'll find it myself, Thanks."

@robotgas & Kevin

I think it'd be better to feign ignorance as to who he was. Say something like, "didn't you used to own the Rangers?"

He was pretty close to getting the job but that pesky drug test was the showstopper.
