1000 Miles From Home releases new single, “June Ends Now”

Dallas, Texas based alternative rock band 1000 Miles From Home released their new single "June Ends Now" on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. The single was released digitally on the band's own label, Wrong Way Records, and will be available on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Amazon, eMusic, and many more digital download stores worldwide. The song is available now for preview on the band's Myspace page, myspace.com/athousandmilesfromhome.

"June Ends Now" is the first in a series of six singles 1000 Miles From Home plans to self-release in 2009. The band decided that waiting to deliver their new material on a traditional album cycle method would hold the songs too long between conception and delivery to their fans. Digital releases will also save the band on overhead costs, which they can invest in doing more recording and releases. "It (digital single release) allows us to put more into our songs, treating each one like it would be a full album release, instead of releasing an album with half the creative effort, in order to meet some unrealistic deadline," says band frontman, Zac Carrington. Eventually the band may compile the singles into a traditional record, but for now they will stand alone as singles. Lyric sheets and album art will be available on the band's website for each single.

1000 Miles From Home was formed in 2006 as an outlet for Zac Carrington's songwriting. The current band lineup includes Carrington on lead vocals and guitar, Jeff Widman on lead guitar and vocals, Chris Bender on bass, and Michael Clinton on drums. The members of 1000 Miles From Home have shared the stage with national acts such as Gym Class Heroes, Bowling for Soup, Midtown, Armor for Sleep, and Less Than Jake. Carrington's writing style is heavily influenced by the mid 90's emo and alternative scenes including bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate, Hum, Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley, and Texas is the Reason. Modern comparisons of their music include Incubus, the Foo Fighters, Saosin, and Jimmy Eat World.

The band's 2007 EP release, Collusion, was well received in the college radio market, garnering CMJ Charting positions all over the country. Their single "Explain the Explanation" was picked up by 102.1 The Edge in Dallas and also serves as the theme music for the nationally syndicated independent music radio show, The Colorado Wave. "When You Go", also from Collusion, was featured in the Fall 2008 Compilation by LBM Music Zine distributed to Hot Topic stores nationwide.

"June Ends Now" along with the band's previous EP, Collusion, were recorded and produced by award winning producer Alex Gerst at Indian Trail Recording Studio in Sanger, Texas. Gerst holds several accolades as a producer including two Grammy Nominations (2007 for Kentucky Fried Texas's Greatest Hits Volume 1 and "Costa Rica") and "Producer of the Year" in 1999 by the Ft Worth Star Telegram and 2001, 2002, and 2004 by the 97.1 KEGL Local Show.
