Grapevine-based GameStop to host pre-launch Halo Wars tournament
GRAPEVINE GameStop, the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that it will host Halo Wars video game tournaments at approximately 1,000 of its U.S. GameStop locations on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. This exclusive pre-launch tournament will give players the opportunity to get their hands on the newest Halo game three days prior to release.
Players will compete one-on-one with other contestants in a single-elimination tournament to determine each store winner. Store winners will receive a copy of Halo Wars Limited Collector’s Edition and a Halo Wars t-shirt. Second place winners will also receive a Halo Wars t-shirt.
Halo Wars is an action strategy game for the Xbox 360 that allows the player to control large armies and to shrewdly direct them in realistic warfare. Set early in the iconic war between the Covenant and UNSC - made famous by the Halo FPS games - Halo Wars provides a new angle on the war while bringing new heroes to the battle.
Headquartered in Grapevine, GameStop Corp., a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company, is the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer.
