McKinney hires new assistant city manager
McKinney City Manager Frank Ragan announced Monday the hiring of Jim Parrish to fill the position of Assistant City Manager. Parrish will start with the city on March 12.
Parrish is currently the Director of Human Resources in Amarillo, Texas. He succeeds Regie Neff, who retired last year as Assistant City Manager, and will lead the Information Technology, Finance, Human Resources, Library and City Secretary departments in McKinney.
“Jim brings the right mix of experience, skills, strong leadership abilities and vision to his new role as our Assistant City Manager,” said Ragan. “We are excited to bring him on board to join our leadership team.”
During his 22-year tenure in Amarillo, Parrish has served in both the Director and Assistant Director roles for HR, as well as several positions in the Finance Department. He has supervised multiple departments, including Information Technology, Risk Management, Finance and Accounting. During his tenure, Parrish had many successes, including designing and implementing a benefit program that included the opening of a city clinic to provide primary care for city employees.
“McKinney is known as a leader in managing growth and development while maintaining a strong community spirit and quality of life,” said Parrish. “McKinney clearly has a dynamic future, and I’m looking forward to working alongside McKinney leaders to tackle the tough issues and exciting opportunities.”
