Audio: Disney VP talks about North Texas Matinee Club rollout
... and discusses the challenges of converting old-tech theaters to digital, in light of current economic conditions.
Disney's Senior Vice President for Worldwide Digital Cinema and Cinema Programming - a chap by the name of Jason Brenek - was in Dallas Wednesday morning (Feb. 25) to promote the Dallas-area rollout of Disney's Matinee Club.
North Texas is one of only two regions selected by Disney to test the potential of adding a variety of themed, kid-friendly activities to the cinematic experience, to serve as value-added programming in support of the big-screen animated film feature.
Mr. Brenek - who lived in Texas before gainful employment drew him to LA-LA-land - spoke with us by phone to discuss his hopes and plans for the Matinee Club concept, and then answered a few questions about his other area of expertise: digital and 3-D cinema programming.
Which is projected (get it?) to include a lot more than just movies, going forward.
