Restaurant Review: The Pearl Cup Coffeehouse on Henderson in Dallas

Content partner What We're Doing visits the newest coffeehouse in town.

We've been anxiously awaiting the opening of a new indie coffeehouse in our 'hood. We were devastated when Gachet up and moved to swanky Victory Park. Nothing against ole Starbucks, but we need to switch up our brews sometimes.

The Pearl Cup finally opened on North Henderson across from Barcadia. We stopped by early one morning to check it out. Got to say, we love the concrete floors and the sweet, retro branding and decor. The staff looks and acts laid back and chill--just what you want in your local coffeehouse. There's a small patio overlooking North Henderson and free wi-fi. And yes, they have magazines to read and sweets and bites of all sorts to nibble.

Hubby ordered the usual large drip, and I chose the signature Pearl Latte. Careful tamping by the barista produced a latte with a creamy body topped with a lovely, frothy foam. We both commented on how familiar the coffee tasted. We queried the manager and found out they use beans from roaster Clay Eiland, who also supplied Gachet in the past. It's a small world. Recommendation: TRY IT

kindofabigdeal, says:

Though they won't say it, they're serving pastries from Tart.

Drip coffee is a bit on the weak side, but like the article says, its solid work for a shot of espresso... in Dallas.
