Flickerstick calls it a career with its two final Fort Worth shows tonight and tomorrow at The Aardvark. Doors open at 7:30. Tickets are $15 and $20 available though frontgatetickets.com.
FRIDAY
* The Cellar 50th Anniversary at J&J Blues Bar: Paul Sevy, Jack and the Rippers, Stymie, L.B. Stone and Bugs Henderson are among the musicians assembling to remember the notorious Cellar Club in a benefit for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Tickets are $25. Doors at 8:30.
SUNDAY
* Bosque Brown at Dan’s Silverleaf in Denton: The new album won’t be out until Tuesday, but if you can’t wait until then to get your fix of the minimalist / soul / gospel sounds of Mara Lee Miller and crew, truck it on up to Dan’s Silverleaf for Sunday’s album release show.
* Take a hike at Tandy Hills Park: Master Naturalist Jim Varnum will be conducting a Trout Lily Walk and Talk at Tandy Hills Park at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Bring your walking shoes, water, hat, sunscreen, camera, notebook, snack.
ALL WEEKEND
* Oscar Nominated Shorts at The Modern: If you were one of the three people who watched the Oscars on Sunday, perhaps you wondered where you could see these short subject films. The answer in Fort Worth is The Modern this weekend as part of the Magnolia at The Modern Film series. Friday, 6 pm–Animated Shorts, 8 pm–Live Action Shorts. Saturday, 5 pm–Animated Shorts. Sunday, 2 pm–Animated Shorts, 4 pm–Live Action Shorts. Tickets are $8.50, $6.50 for Modern members. Advance sales begin two hours prior to the show.
