Pegasus News week in view: New Year’s edition

Meet the New Year, hopefully not the same as the old year.

There are probably few of us sorry to see 2008 ride off into that Good Night. But it all really did happen, and we've got a host of recaps for you this week. (See, it's a well-kept industry secret that no real news happens between Christmas and New Year's, but newsies still want to get paid in the interim -- hence the tradition of year-end wrapups.) At any rate, here's the best of the year, with a peek at the best of this weekend.

All-you-can-eat southern style buffet & Gospel music

The 11 most popular stories of 2008:

The big picture: See what stories got you talking this year ... Laura S. gathered your best photos from 2008 ... West and Clear took on recap and prognostication duties for Fort Worth ... Bill Baumbach recounted the Collin County tales that keep him recounting Collin County tales .. Dallas Progress reflected on those we lost in 2008.

Stage: We've got no shortage of opinions on the local Theatre community: Shawn took the lead by recognizing cahones in the community ... The Dallas Voice named the top productions and actors ... Mark-Brian Sonna named the best and the worst moments of the year.

Flix:: Our film guy(s) named their favorite films of the year as well as the missed opportunities. Meanwhile, Todd had a, um, "different" list.

Sports: Erin profiled the top local athletes, some of whom you've never heard of before ... Todd noted the off-field distractions that ruined the game ... College Football Top Ten has a wish list for DFW football.

Best bites: Teresa chronicled the comings and goings in the dining scene, the latter of which were the unfortunate story of the year.

Music: Erin noted the best contributions from our music-obsessed content partners ... West and Clear picked the top local releases.

Schools: John recaps a year where the lessons learned about bureaucratic dishonesty and inefficiency trumped those in the classroom.

Risky Bidness: Teresa recapped a rocky year.

The little bit of new stuff that did happen this week: WinStar (who has never, ahem, spent a nickel with us) became one of the world's largest casinos with its new expansion ... Larry Lewis just can't leave well enough alone in the Lancaster School District ... The great restaurant diaspora of aught-nine has begun ... The Gobbler's Knob really likes Eastwood's new album (as do I).
