Referee collapses at Dallas high school basketball game and dies
Jake Bethany, 48, collapsed and died on Monday in the middle of a basketball game at a Dallas Independent School District tournament. He collapsed in a hallway right before the second half, and was pronounced dead at R.H. Dedman Memorial Medical Center.
Bethany, a former coach at the University of Dallas, played college basketball at Hardin-Simmons from 1979 to 1982 and was a sixth-round draft pick of the Phoenix Suns.
