Dallas Chinese Overseas School to hold open house
The Dallas Overseas Chinese School responds to the growing interest and curiosity by hosting a Spring Open House to answer questions and to provide guidance in acquiring the language spoken by more than a billion people around the world.
While not everyone is kicking and busting out kung fu moves, it sure seems that friends left and right are learning the Chinese language with great enthusiasm. The Dallas Overseas Chinese School responds to the growing interest and curiosity by hosting a Spring Open House to answer questions and to provide guidance in acquiring the language spoken by more than a billion people around the world. One of the door prizes is a Chinese class tuition voucher. It all happens on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the Richardson North Junior High School, near the University of Texas at Dallas.
On January 11, 2009, a free prize drawing ticket will be given to each person who walks through the doors at 1820 N. Floyd Road, Richardson, TX 75080, from 2:00pm - 3:30pm. The drawing takes place shortly thereafter, with a handful of educational prizes to be given out.
While the tuition voucher grand prize is something of a spectacle, the real crown jewel is in the wealth of information available at the Spring Open House. Teachers with decades of experience in the Chinese language, culture, and history stand ready to answer questions and explain the domestic influence that the Chinese language has in business, technology, and academia.
The Dallas Overseas Chinese School also has classes for advancement in mathematics and a curriculum in reading and writing in the English language. The majority of their math instructors hold PhD or Master’s Degree in math, and their English teachers have years of public school teaching experience.
The school is located conveniently for residents of Plano, Allen, McKinney, Garland, Addison, and Frisco as well. Course catalog is available at http://www.OverseasChineseSchool.com through the “Registration Package” link.
The prize drawing at the Spring Open House applies to students who pre-registered as well. If they win the grand prize tuition voucher, the school will turn around and cut them a refund check for tuition already paid. The winner also has the option of giving the voucher to their friend, as the voucher is transferable to anyone enrolling in the Chinese class.
The Dallas Overseas Chinese School is the educational arm of the Hai-Hwa Foundation, a nonprofit entity committed to helping children succeed in the future. In addition to the school, Hai- Hwa also sponsors and operates a summer leadership camp at the Austin College in Sherman, Texas. The camp is staffed with alumni and teachers from the Chinese School, as well as specialists from Hai-Hwa’s very own Community Youth Leadership Club.
