City of Rowlett to consider smoking ban
ROWLETT The Rowlett Mayor and City Council have scheduled a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the regular City Council meeting to address the City’s smoking ordinance. The purpose of the public hearing is to solicit input from citizens, business owners, and others on the issue of a possible smoking ban.
Last week, the City sent notices about the public hearing to more than 15 local food establishments to encourage owners and managers to attend the public hearing to provide opinions and concerns on the issue.
Those unable attend the public hearing are encouraged to email the City Council at citycouncil@rowlett.com to submit comments. The current smoking ordinance is posted on-line at www.rowlett.com. Click on the Code of Ordinances icon and enter “smoking” in the search box to review the City’s smoking ordinance.
