— The Dallas Cowboys announced today that they have released cornerback/kick returner Adam 'Pac Man' Jones. No official reason was given, and the announcement will be made official on February 9th, the first day that NFL clubs are allowed to make waiver requests.

Jones had been unremarkable at best during his contentious stay in Dallas, finishing the year with 31 tackles over 9 games, zero interceptions and one forced fumble. Jones was at his worst as the season wore on, particularly in the Baltimore and Philadelphia disasters, when Jones was regularly seen bouncing harmlessly off opposing running backs and committing game-killing personal foul penalties.

Jones was also a no-show on his kick-return duties. Once considered one of the most dangerous return threats in the NFL, Jones returned 21 punts for a 4.5 yard average, and seven kickoffs for 22.1 yards each and no touchdowns.

UPDATE: Well, apparently, the Cowboys didn't "officially" release Jones until yesterday. I guess we can all breathe now...
