Reel FX Creative Studios holding art donation and sale for Children’s Medical Center in Dallas
Reel FX Creative Studios is hosting "A Canvas for a Cause," a charity event for Children's Medical Center, on January 15th. (You may have heard of ReelFX studios for winning the first Re*Cov*Er mural competition in Deep Ellum and for being awarded the contract for the Deep Ellum DART Station.) The studio's staff donated 10" x 10" canvases for artists to create a work in the medium of their choice, which will then be sold for $50 each to benefit Children's. Each artist will sign the back of their work to be revealed upon purchase. While the canvas is provided, a $10 donation to Children's is required per submission.
This event is along the same lines as Postcards from the Edge in New York (which benefits Visual AIDS), for anyone familiar with that charity art sale. Reel FX is still accepting submissions as late as Wednesday the 14th (but do your best to get it in by Monday if possible). If you are interested in submitting a work to the cause contact Katherine Harper at katherine.harper@reelfx.com.

We had a great time last night! The Reel FX peeps were awesome and very friendly. The great thing is almost all eighty of the works sold and they will be up for a month or so, for the public to view. There was plenty of wine and beer, lots of lovely people and the spirit of charity was going strong. I think some of it was competitive too! You could hear people debating about whether to buy now or wait, which brought up the perilous notion that someone might buy it before you did. I also got to see my friends Neil and Andi Weathersbee and their lovely son Jonathan, who by all accounts, I scared to death for some reason.

Thanks Teresa...Katherine Harper said that they may do another event similar to this one, except with sculpture here soon. She also invited me back for a tour with my classes, which I really appreciated. And one other nice thing I just remembered. When they ran out of wine, I do believe they went and bought a couple extra bottles to finish off the night's festivities.
A.T...when i woke up this morning I felt like I had done some art crawling..either that or it crawled all over me! Good thing we went to Gloria's and had some vittles post-party.
