Dallas aid agency Wilkinson Center opens new location in Pleasant Grove
The nonprofit Wilkinson Center, started by the Munger Place United Methodist Church back in 1982 as a food pantry to help the poor, has opened another branch of the agency at a shopping center in Pleasant Grove.
This came about because center director Brian Burton noticed that more and more of the folks taking advantage of the Center's emergency financial aid, job readiness and after school programs were coming from that area.
Meanwhile, the Swiss Avenue neighborhood where the Center currently operates has seen a swing towards rejuvenation and general upscale yuppiness.
