Coppell City Council meets to discuss spending a lot of money and drilling gas wells
When the Coppell City Council convenes in regular session on Tuesday (Jan. 13) at 7 p.m. (in City Hall), they'll have a lot of spending measures on their plate.
Up for proposed purchase will be $624,000 worth of police fleet system upgrades, including digital video recorders, Panasonic Toughbooks, CORE Control Law Enforcement Integration Systems (some kind of inter-agency comm link thingy, from the sound of it), lighting equipment, and Stalker radar/LIDAR units.
Also on the spending docket will be $132,000 in trail design and master planning, and $222,000 for purchase of new vehicles for Fleets, Parks, Streets and Utilities (through Philpott Motors).
Also on the agenda is a proposal to allow Chesapeake Energy to drill a couple of gas wells (w. of Coppell Rd. and s. of Canyon Dr.), with provision for the later drilling of up to nine additional wells on the 3.1 acre pad site.
A few other items of interest on this Tuesday's really, really chock-full agenda:
* consider designating the bridge over Grapevine Creek as one way only (eastbound) during a road reconstruction project
* consider approval of a proclamation naming the month of January as "School Board Appreciation Month"
* a presentation by the Coppell PD to the Council in recognition of their being selected as the best program in the 2008 National Night Out observance (category 4)
