La Madeleine in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square to shut down on Sunday January 17

2

— As hinted at by Fortworthology (who themselves spotted the original note on the Fort Worth Architecture Forum), the La Madeleine that's in Sundance Square will shut down on Sunday, confirmed an employee at the restaurant.

"It was a number of factors," he said. "The lease was up, but also the business fluctuated drastically. Some days we'd be crowded, and then other days we'd be empty. With that kind of situation, it becomes hard to staff. You can't give enough shifts to make it worthwhile."

It's unfortunate for downtown workers because La Madeleine fills a niche of serving decent food that's not too expensive.

Most of the employees will transfer to the branch on Camp Bowie, and no other La Madeleine store closures have been announced.

Thanks to Alex for tip!

Good riddance to that filthy place. It wasn't that long ago when the health department gave them a very low score. I found hair in my food on two occasions and, on another occasion (guess I just didn't learn the first two times), one of the employees had her finger stuck in her mouth - while, with the other hand, she served soup; it was disgusting. Her manager was standing right there; he didn't say a word. Every other La Mad's I've visited has been fine, including the Camp Bowie location.
