New chicken place called Chicken House opens in former Brothers Chicken location in Dallas
DALLAS A new chicken place called Chicken House has opened in the space that was vacated by the dearly beloved Brothers Chicken, which closed in November.
An employee at the restaurant, which re-opened on Friday January 9, said that the chicken was "basically the same as before", but that there were a few new things on the menu.
Meanwhile, the Kazanas brothers, who previously owned Brothers, haven't ruled out the possibility of finding another location where they can re-open Brothers.
"We've been taking some time off, but we do have bills to pay," said Jimmy Kazanas.

Try the 'OhLay!' chicken livers wrapped in thin strips of Spam then rolled in Rice Crispies and fried served with a side of 'pimento-laced vinegarette' salsa on a 'bed of wilted celery shreds'. Disfruta!

Ok I just tried it since Rawlins chickened out - no pun intended. They came surprisingly close on the chicken but the french fries left a lot to be desired. Conclusion: If Brothers doesn't resurface somewhere else I will have an intervention with new management on the fries and then pledge my support to the new regime.

Sorry, If it isnt brothers, I wont eat it. They need to open up in that shopping center on gaston where Lennys Subs is, they would rake in tons of business from baylor alone.

Lenny's is ok, better than that Jack John's or Joe Jim's or whatever the name of that one chain is. Certainly better than Subway but not close to a play like say Capriotti's.

I agree, not a fan of Jack John's or whatever its called. I feel like I have to have my jaw reset after eating a sandwich. Also, they don't serve their sandwiches hot.

I miss the potted ham nachos (dripping in cheese food faux Velveeta but redeemed with that green maraschino cherry!) And those Vienna sausage fritters with that apple sauce laced dipping sauce (oozing with lard used for thickening) and peanut butter overglaze.

See! I knew he wasn’t talking about Travis! I was beginning to fear however, with all this chicken talk, that he would not live up to such a bold entrance.
I watched GW and Laura on Larry King and I don’t get it. I really don’t get the self-serving, evil genius vibe that some would accuse him of having. I truly believe he did the best anyone could be expected to do under some incredibly difficult circumstances. I’m not sure anyone else would have fared any better. I feel most comforted in knowing that it could have been Al Gore in office and what a mess he could have made of things.

Oh I am for the bird, fried and tender, while, my intentions to realize are, once a Brothers chicken stand, always it will be the same despite the new guy...I can recall the K.F.C... on Lemmon has been there a long time as a location, while the building is around 15 years old...I recall the chicken in the 1970's and lot of honey was in that bucket of rolls and gravy...A/T..Love that bird man.

It's been said that the fries aren't the same.
The only way the chicken can be the same is: Do they have the same seasoning sprinkle in the little unmarked can as brothers?
Also, I think that Chicken House should have it's own page and Brothers should be kept on another page. It looks like we all favorited the Chicken House.

Davis the info you are requesting will require a reconnaissance mission. I have to admit it tasted pretty much the same. The fries were horrible though.
And Chicken House does need its own page for it is no Brothers.
Luciano... about the fries... they are overly deep fried followed by overly heat lamped. The new owners (who run donut shops) think fries can sit there all day. They are too cheap and not perfectionist enough to toss them every 20 min like they should be. They think differently than we do. To them its throwing away money nevermind satisfying the customer so he'll come back.

Michael Davis, says:
ILB, you are a better person than I. I can't go there.
Heat lamped? They had heat lamps at Brothers but they always tossed the fries and made new ones wherever they got low.
When Brothers comes back, I hope they call TG so we can throw an on-site Pegasus-sponsored party or something. (That means Mike O pays for our food).

I love fried Chicken, livers, gravy potatoes, greens, while I will swing over to the Chicken House one day....The Southern element about fried food is the soul and character that has emotional meaning, B.B.Q is a another source of wild foods to eat, but more manly then the old bird...
I recall digging in an old Victorian house over on State street in the Uptown area some years back, under the floor boards were some 10 years of chicken bones, many fried or boiled...it is a Texas cultural food, just as Pizza or other types of foods found today that have some sort of cultural and soulful affect...A/T..Food observer.
