Suspect identified in shooting at Gas Pipe in North Dallas
Police have identified a suspect in the December 30 shooting at the Gas Pipe in North Dallas in which four people were shot and a young woman, Rabeca Rae Kemp, 18, of Mount Vernon, was killed.
Police said that their release of the store's surveillance video showing the gunman enter the store and shoot, followed by an announcement of a $10,000 reward, helped generate information. They still think the crime was gang-related but now think it was a botched robbery. They're not identifying the suspect yet but they've been in touch with his family and expect him to turn himself in.
The other information to surface re: this crime is that slain Dallas police officer Norman Smith was assisting homicide officers in their investigation because of his experience in the department's gang unit.
