Young Colleyville band Minor Damage rocks the House of Blues
A Colleyville Band playing at the House of Blues in Dallas is not unique on its own, but when all the band members are under 13 years old, it attracts wide-spread attention. They performed there Monday, December 15th.
The band, Minor Damage, is a local Colleyville group and was selected as an opening act for the 2008 House of Blues Tribute Tour following impressive performances at Grapefest 2008 in Grapevine, TX, and at a recent concert held at Maximedia Studios in Dallas, TX. The tour features the Southlake based AC/DC Tribute band Back In Black and North Carolina-based Guns N’ Roses tribute band Appetite For Destruction. The tour is sponsored by CBS Radio, Live Nation, 105.3TheFan and JACK FM.
Minor Damage played an original song, “Time to Destroy”, written by guitarist Bryce Bingham with vocals by Robert Rozman. The band was well-rehearsed, tight and on top of their game. Right from the start, it was obvious the crowd loved their searing guitars, scorching vocals, thunderous bass, and heart stopping drums. Despite the icy weather that night, they had a large turn-out.
After the performance, many of the Live Nation and House of Blues people commented on how impressed they were with Minor Damage. It’s rare to see a group of kids this age playing with such confidence and stage presence. "You guys kicked butt! I was wonderfully surprised", said Chad Atkins (singer of Appetite for Destruction).
Minor Damage was formed in early 2008 by three Southlake, TX, For Those About To Rock School students Matt Smith (drums-age 11), Sean Torres (guitar/voc -age 12) and Robert Rozman (vocals-age 12). They soon added Joe Dunn (bassist -age 12), younger brother of Rock School instructor Randy Dunn. The band finalized their line-up with the addition of lead guitarist Bryce Bingham (age 12), who is quickly gaining a reputation as a true "shredder". Mike Mroz, owner of For Those About To Rock School, said, “These guys have incredible talent and strong work ethic, and they are only 11 and 12 years old".
The boys are planning on entering the studio in early 2009 to record their debut CD with producers Mike Mroz and Josh Hoover. Minor Damage is one of the featured bands of For Those About to Rock School in Southlake. For more information about the Rock School you can call 817-442-9345.
