211 calls in Tarrant County spiked in December
United Way's 211 line received a sharp increase in calls last month in Tarrant County. The 211 line directs people to get help with basic needs, such as rent, utilities and food. As if we needed any more signals that Texas isn't recession-proof. While the official numbers for the whole month of December are not in yet, United Way saw a 41 percent increase in the first half of the month from the same time period in the prior year.
