Rick’s Cabaret International, Inc., a Dallas-based chain of gentlemen’s clubs, will convert its Dallas location into the largest all-nude bar in Texas – a 25,000 square foot, two-story palace off the Stemmons Freeway.

The club's dancers will also undergo a Texas-sized renovation

The club's dancers will also undergo a Texas-sized renovation

"This club is one of the finest physical locations in the entire country, and we know our customers will enjoy it as an XTC Cabaret, which is our company’s brand for all-nude gentlemen’s clubs," said Eric Langan, President and CEO of Rick's Cabaret. "We will benefit from an absolutely ideal location on the heavily traveled I-35 Stemmons Freeway near the American Airlines Arena and just a few miles north of the famous Dallas West End retail and recreation center.”

A three-day grand opening party for the newest XTC Cabaret will take place January 15th, 16th and 17th, with additional entertainers to be flown in from the company’s Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami plus XTC Cabarets in Austin and San Antonio.

The newest XTC Cabaret includes an executive level with sky boxes, plus multiple plasma television screens for viewing major sports events.

Rick’s Cabaret purchased the former Executive Club in April 2008. The company also operates two other clubs in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area – a Rick’s Cabaret in Ft. Worth and a Club Onyx in Dallas.

I assume it will be BYOB?

Yes BYOB, I just can't believe that! I think the entry fee will be $25 at the door, per person, BYOB allowed but monitored closely as to how much you can bring into that joint. And I am sure they will promote food/menu items heavily, in other words $75.00 minimum food order required if you get a VIP booth on top of the actual $200 VIP booth rental. Again, I am not sure, BUT that would be the norm.

I could have sworn this country was in a recession.

You know, people losing their homes, no money for medical care, unemployment at levels unseen since the 30's depression.

The city infrastructure crumbling; city services dramatically cut back - I won't even get into the school situation.

But yes we can most certainly have and welcome a 25,000 sq foot all-nude tit bar with $200 booth rentals and $25 get-in-the-door charges.

It's strangely comforting to know that the Darwin Awards will always have plenty of nominees...

I have to go get coupons together now for the grocery store.

What does a strip club have to do with the Darwin Awards?

Also, I don't understand the outrage. Some people and businesses are doing badly, some people and businesses are prospering. Why is it so much more unfair that a strip club is doing well enough to open a new location?

Hey – Russ is a nudie bar EXPERT!

Naked girls need to eat too AnnMarie. In fact, a part-time gig might just pay for those groceries! ;-)

This may be a stupid question but what is the purpose of having a skybox in this sort of establishment?

Vice aint nice if you have all of these things going on at once, the bigger and better of a club naked, while it is such a waste of money to create the Vegas image of total vice,in a place like Dallas.

The strip joint goes way back to the times of Jack Rubys Club on Commerce st in the 1950's and 1960's and even before that, while Candy Bar was famous for making her way on the stage with stiptease and stag movies,Vegas, New York, New Orleans and Frisco have always held the main frame for such events,

Even Sally Rand of the 1930's, from New York was an accomplished stripper, then in the internet porn age of the early 90s..total nudity becomes the next exspress for consumer addiction, then again...go to Europe and enjoy the venus of those historical centers that celebrate nudity as art and not as vice...A/T, Of Human vice of mice and men.

AnneMarie Wilson, no disrespect, just the facts for everyone to understand this whole thing. NOW,.....PROSTITUTION is the oldest profession on Earth, and it involves men and women, not just women. Men sell sex and women do too! This new bar is just satisfying human-kind. Don't be so shocked. Sex eases anxiety and many other things! It is natural.

Maybe I'm the only one, but going to a strip club just increases my anxiety since I know I'm not actually going to get to have sex.

Pavel- Don't worry your little 'hawked' head over it. If it's enjoyable, and folks aren't hurting anyone but themselves, it will be banned soon.
Kinda like cell phones in cars and then in public- they'll soon be gone too.
Damn! All this talk of strippers and porn, I need a smoke!

Ok, hold on. Am I to understand that you have to bring your own drinks to strip clubs in Dallas? This seems rather unusual. Is this another Dallas related sex+alcohol law like the cake toppers related to not wearing any sticky tape over the unmentionables?

Also, since this thread seems to have some people in the know, are girls allowed at The Lodge? If so, we're totally going, but waiting until after the smoking ban is on. I mean, best in North America? What else is here that can boast such a claim??

Yes, women are allowed. You'll probably get a free lap dance or two out of the deal. Sisterhood solidarity or something. Don't ask me how I know this...

Way back in the dark ages (AKA high school 1973) I wrote a paper arguing for legalize prostitution - I haven't changed my mind.

No pimps, no drugs, disease, abuse.. no one under a certain age. The government can tax and regulate it.

In fact I'm all in favor of bringing back the entire section of educated courtesan!

There's a world of difference between nude dancing and a courtesan...starting with self-respect and education.

And since I'm on a roll here: this is one of the few countries in the modern world where we place nudity as a taboo. You don't find these hang-ups in Europe; of course then you also don't need the strip clubs. Mustn't stop the $$$ from rolling in.

About 15 years ago a friend won a trip to St. Martins (4 day, 3 night - all expenses). We spent a day at Orient beach. You could tell most of the Americans: either they 'hid' their nudity and wouldn't move, or they gawked. The Europeans there were comfy in their birthday suits. We're talking all shapes, sizes and colors. It was an amazingly liberating experience.

Anyway back to my main point: money and this states reputation. We don't put our money for our health, kids, or infrastructure - but we can toss a ton away to see a naked body.

Go look in a mirror.

ANN, you are on the button on this story, while other subjects such as the Cherry Pit and so on, the Harem in Dallas cannot be defined, and this kind of business cannot be compared to the good old days...it is a cuthroat business that I again realize Naughty and Nasty is the poor education that comes from the promotion of the Sex Industry today,

While I did go out yesterday and look at the site, it is advertising though sensation that is still selling the show...of a very large mens club...A/T,...Swim suit observer.

What do you mean by "our money", anyway? This is a private business setting up shop. Unless there's something I'm missing, it's not "our" money, unless you're talking about society as a whole, in general - and if you are, this society's based on the idea that I'll throw my money away in any way I choose.

"There's a world of difference between nude dancing and a courtesan...starting with self-respect and education."

Nude dancers are just trying to make a living like everyone else in this world. It can be pretty lucrative...I've known a few that really did it so they could put themselves through school. There are a lot of things I wish I could do - paying cash for grad school instead of going $30K into debt is one of them.

Stripping and nudity aren't quite as taboo as you think. Pole dancing classes have popped up all around - entire studios dedicated to teaching this stuff. The women there aren't all uneducated women with no self respect. It's full of people who want to learn something fun and different. I attended one for a bachelorette party and found myself attending a few on my own in the weeks/months that followed. It beats running on a treadmill to get your exercise in and is always a fun topic at parties! I'm not saying these are the same women that will take jobs dancing at a club...but still.

And hey, if the economy keeps heading the way it's going and I lose my job and run through all my savings, I am not above taking a job as a last resort as a stripper in order to keep a roof over my head. People do what they can with the choices they are given.

DC, my good friend's sister used to work at the Men's club a few years back. They only allowed women in if they were accompanied by male friend/husband. Reason given - wanted to keep it a gentelmen's club and not a lesbian hangout. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just the business model.

On the other side--La Bare used to be huge, ladies only club. Men would be allowed ONLY if they wore a top-hat and tails. Seriously. The male dancers used to earn six figures. That Greenville at Lovers Lane location used to make a fortune back in the 70's,80's and early 1990's.

Mike, great link, made me laugh my straight backside off. The "Gentlemans club" can be a mixed bag, be it your straight or gay. I Ive met alot of dancers in my young life, According to them, girls are usually there for one of three reasons: A) They're in college working p/t(20%). B) They're looking for extra cash to pay for a habit or vice(drugs, booze, bills, ect..) (50%) or c)They're nuttier than a fruitcake looking for a sugardaddy(30%).
