Spiceman’s F.M. 1410 in Dallas is plotting a garden

The huge city lot-garden plot outside my back door at the F-M 1410 is moving forward... Some visible signs include the widened gate to get trucks with materials in and out. (on Bryan St.) The removal of decades of layers of various vines and trees on the east facing wall of Jimmy's Grocery Store exposes the lovely, old brick.

We took up the branches of the photinia hedge row opposite the brick wall and chipped them back underneath for mulch. We took delivery of, and spread the first two of many massive dumps of tree trimming wood chips we'll use as mulch around the perimeter and between the growing areas/beds. Come see for yourself.

So my dear garden project partners or volunteers...time for you to appear if you are still interested but... bring a rake, wheelbarrow, shovel, cash, credit card, whut chu got to bring to da table baby? I've got some Indian Lemonade...(from wild sumac it is made).

Our inventory of Fine Munchables (F-Ms) is determined by what my restaurants/Chefs are buying. What I have to offer this time of bare bones, post mule tide/lowtide time of year consists of a few core items like:

Miniature lettuces, micro greens and sprouts, fresh herbs and spices, wild and cultivated exotic mushrooms like fresh truffles, wild foraged black trumpet, chanterelles, hedge hogs, yellow foot chanterelles, et al

Winter Wild Mushrooms: Hedge Hogs, Yellowfoot Chanterelles, Black Trumpets, Chanterelles

Fresh Truffles from Oregon are in. Both Black and white which we've been retailing for $20 oz. Himalayan Truffles are @ $15 oz retail.

Other delicious, exotic mushrooms include Hen O' Woods/Maitake mushrooms.

We have the following Miniature Lettuces in stock: Red Oak, Lollo Rossa, Red Romaine, Green Romaine and Tango; Mache Lettuce, very limited.

Local produce from about 50 miles from here include Watermelon Radishes and Arugula, with more items arriving on Friday January 16.

We also have: Sea Beans from Baja, Huckleberries from Oregon, Micro Celery, and Micro Beet tops.

Our "Spice is nice" rack holds some flavors that are bold like Cambodian Kampot pepper corns, date palm sugar, sea salts, perique tobacco, wild sumac.

Fresh Herbs on hand include: Chervil, Tarraon, Chives, Sage, Dill, Marjoram, Mint, Oregano, Rosemary, Thyme, Sweet Basil, retail @ $1 oz.

With so many projects, garden participations, storms, and interruptions, it's been difficult to get e-mails composed much less sent for which I regret. One of my New Years resolutions is to learn to say no (to sex, just kidding) to things that stretch me out, time-wise that is.

One last word from Spicy...I've offered and made available many ways for me to earn the means to get the garden out back done with expedience, though rushing a garden is far from the best way to do it. But this is Dallas and by God you want to see things happen fast and I'm just the man to do it. But please check out my original music/song downloads for $1.97 each at TomSpicer.com that you can get to help me finance this garden. Or just stop in and buy a small something or make a donation to the cause for which you are entitled to immediate stipends or dividends.

I don't know how to make this any more fair or reciprocal...so if all y'all really want something like this to show, then do like me and pony up, i.e. hep me hep you.

luniz, says:

I would probably go do that actually. Not that I have any rakes or wheelbarrows. Anybody been to the garden?
