What does a polar bear have to do with a semi-pro football team? Well, both will dive in to cold water at just the right time. The right time will be January 24 at Cedar Hill State Park, and the cold water will be Joe Pool Lake.
The Fort Worth Avengers football team will be hosting the Polar Bear Run and Dive on the 24th at Cedar Hill State Park. There will be a 1K and 5K run, and participants are invited to dive, or waddle, in to Joe Pool Lake after the run for the purpose of “cooling” off. The runs will start at 8:30 a.m. for the 1K and 9:00 a.m. for the 5K. Registration cost for individuals is $25. Registration cost on race-day is $30. The fee includes park entry, a T-Shirt, chili and food after the race.
Runners may register at The Fort Worth Running Company in Fort Worth or The Runner in Pantego. For more information, visit Polarbearrunanddive.com. Proceeds will benefit the Fort Worth Avengers who will be seeking a second straight West Division Championship in the Texas United Football League.
