Lancaster teens throw a temper tantrum when theater won’t let them in
Five people were arrested on Saturday night after causing a disturbance when the Cinemark Movies 14 theater in Lancaster would not let them enter their movie.
The teens were trying to enter R-rated movies but were not old enough. According to Lancaster police, as many as 2,000 teenagers were involved in the disturbance, but most of the kids were not trying to contribute to it. Parents were called to pick up most of the teens, but five were arrested for causing a disturbance and possession of marijuana. Oops!
Cardinal rule of rioting: Don't have anything in your pockets that could get you arrested beyond the act of rioting itself.
Also, don't throw a fit because a movie theater won't let you in to see My Bloody Valentine. Thank them for saving you some brain cells and go on your way.

Where are the role models for these children? Someone needs to teach them that getting into R rated movies isn't supposed to be that difficult. You buy a ticket to The Land Before Time VII and THEN go see the movie you wanted to.

Should have let them in to see MBV and later turn on the gas. No one would have missed them.

Wait, 2,000 teenagers? Is the Cinemark the only place to hang out in Lancaster?

Why not just say 'as many as millions of teenagers!'
Is there any actual reporting in this town?

How about police who can count? And would it ruin your Sunday if it were only 1,500? What the hell do you care?

Sigh.... "Theater"
And there I was, clicking desperately to see if perhaps a Renaissance had occurred down south and swarms of teens were teeming to get into a small town production of Urinetown or Cats.
I do think we need to start sending Clay out to sate his yen for accuracy

Its Lancaster, its a bunch of mutant progeny produced from the loins of the trashy parents who either live off the public teet or keep an address there for their kids to attend school. That being said, I doubt there was 2,000 teens there, more like 200-300, unless these kids decided to flashmob the place.

So Chris, are there any areas of town occupied by open minded smart people such as yourself?

Yes, Anything near downtown/uptown or your neck of the woods man ;)
Jason, I can speak from experience on Lancaster, as my grandparents live in Desoto and I was born and raised in Duncanville/Cedar Hill. Lancaster has begun to slide when it comes to both the new residence moving in and the quality of life as well, espcially in the older parts of town. It was one of those bedroom communities not so long ago you could keep your doors unlocked and not have to worry about your neighbors. I think you can also make the argurment that most of the southern burbs (south of 20 between 45 south west to 360)have seen a similar slide in the quality, so its not just a lancaster issue but a regional issue.

You knew I couldn't resist poking you.
I've had a lot of friends have to move away from down there. It really used to be a laid back alternative to downtown.

2000 teens would probably fill the entire theater. There were only 3 R rated movies playing..

It is so annoying to see people generalize an entire city based on one event. The constant bashing of the city by people who have never lived here or those who moved away needs to stop!
Lancaster is Lancaster, not Pleasant Grove, Oak Cliff, or any other place. It is isn't perfect but no place is. There majority of its residents are hard working people who are simply living their lives. The nice neighborhoods outnumber those that aren't. Despite recent demographic changes, the city is mostly middle-class, not low-income people receiving government assistance. This is NOT a ghetto.
It is so sad to see how this type of ignorance is trumping the truth about Lancaster.

It's all worth it since the morals of the young are being protected and there's no way they can get their hands on a bootleg DVD of "My Bloody Valentine" or any other film deemed unacceptable.

From what I've observed, it will tend to be the middle class kids who riot and raise dust over something so trivial as a movie. They've been raised with a sense of entitlement. The poor kids can't afford movie tickets; most of them are bringing home their minimum wage to help buy groceries for their families.

Since they weren't let into the movie that just forced them to go out and have sex and do cheese.
Actually, I'm glad that the threater held firm to policy. The parents of these kids need to take more responsibility in what their kids are trying to do.
Many "parents", and I use that term very loosley, choose to let their children sit endlessly gaming or let the movie threater baby sit rather than have one on one interaction.
Sad.
