McKinney wants its youth to sound off on parks and rec
Beginning immediately, all McKinney youth between the ages of 10 and 18 are encouraged to voice their thoughts on city parks and recreational activities offered through the City’s Park, Recreation and Open Space department. The survey is a component of the city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update, a year-long process begun in 2008 to assist the city in addressing future facility and programming needs.
To access the survey, visit the city’s Web site, www.mckinneytexas.org, or the McKinney Independent School District’s web site, www.mckinneyisd.net. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and asks for comments on several issues, including current recreational habits, interest in future programs and park development ideas. It is available through Feb. 15, at which point the data will be tabulated and reported.
“This survey is a great opportunity for the young people in our community to tell us how they think we can improve our parks and provide better programming for recreation,” said Parks, Recreation and Open Space Director Lemuel Randolph. “We received significant input from the adults in the city, but it is very important to us to also hear from our largest consumer group, the youth of the community.”
