— Natural food lovers in the Best Southwest are gaining a new shopping destination, as Sprouts Farmers Market announced Friday they are coming to Cedar Hill. The Arizona-based natural foods retailer will open a 22,000 square foot facility in the 300,000 square foot Plaza at Cedar Hill retail center.

Sprouts is hitting Texas hard as the company is also bringing stores to Austin, Coppell, and McKinney. The chain specializes in farm fresh produce, purchased from local growers when possible. Sprouts also sells natural and organic grocery items including imported cheeses, all natural meats and vitamins.

Alison Thompson, director of the Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation, predicts big things for Sprouts and believes it will have a positive effect on surrounding businesses.

“We have had a lot of interest in that location,” Thompson said. “Besides Sprouts great reputation, in these economic times, grocery-store anchored centers are predicted to do well. We are extremely happy to see that Sprouts is coming. I’m sure all the stores around it are as well.”

Wouldn't it be nice if they replaced the Minyards at Ferguson and Highland... A girl can dream for a better grocery store!

And, hello, how about jump-starting one of the big plazas in Oakcliff? Maybe Sprout can up the ante since Whole"Paycheck" can't commit?
