Travis Ussery elected to McKinney City Council
Ussery garnered 55% of the vote in a special election held Saturday to fill the District 3 seat formerly held by Bill Vitz.
Travis Ussery has won the right to fill the unexpired term of former McKinney councilman Bill Vitz, who resigned in December.
In Saturday's election, Ussery received 340 votes to Robert O'Donnell's 279 in a low turnout election where less than 8% of the registered voters cast a ballot.
Ussery, a CPA, is a native of McKinney and has served as chairman of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission. Previously, e served on the city's Parks Board.
His opponent, Robert O'Donnell, is a founder of the McKinney Historic Neighborhood Association and the Downtown Property Owners Association. Mr. O'Donnell is married to Julie Vargo a former member of the city council.
Mr. Ussery's term will begin on January 26 and end on May 31.
