UTD School of Management study on Texas highway finance policy deemed “a fascinating read”

... though Oprah has not yet weighed in on the multi-disciplinary document.

The University of Texas at Dallas' School of Management has just completed a research project - conducted under the auspices of their Center for Finance Strategy Innovation (CFSI) - called "The Legislative Study Committee Report on the Private Participation in Toll Projects.”

The study, as one might expect from its title, deals with highway finance policy as viewed from the standpoint of "thought leaders" in the areas of academia, industry, the financial community, public officialdom and policy expertise.

The pithiness and acumen of the summary document has drawn praise from the Texas political watchdog publication, Quorum Report, which refers to the study as “a fascinating read.” (Guess Harvey Kronberg isn't getting enough pulp in his diet.)

Lead authors of the report were Elizabeth Jones, CFSI co-founder, and David Epperson, the center's resident fellow, who is a strategy and operations consultant. (Wow: both strategy AND operations? This guy could go places.)

The tollway study is only one example of the sorts of interdisciplinary collaborations that the CFSI was created to foster. According to Dr. David Springate, CFSI founding director: “Finance strategy is becoming increasingly intertwined with risk management, corporate governance, and day-to-day business operations." Springate decided to start CFSI after receiving input from local business execs, who thought there was a need for a local "clearinghouse of thought" on regional and global financial issues.
