Caroline Rose Hunt to recieve TWU’s 7th Annual Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award
DALLAS Caroline Rose Hunt has been named the 2009 recipient of the Seventh Annual Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award, presented by Texas Woman’s University. Texas Woman’s University Chancellor and President Dr. Ann Stuart will present the award to Caroline Rose Hunt at a luncheon, presented by Bank of Texas and Bank of Texas Private Bank, on Feb. 26, 2009, at the Belo Mansion.
“Texas Woman’s University is so pleased to honor such an outstanding individual, businesswoman and community leader, whose contributions and commitments, both locally and nationally, have made a lasting impact on this community and beyond,” said TWU Chancellor and President Dr. Ann Stuart.
Established in 2002, the Virginia Chandler Dykes Leadership Award is given annually to area leaders with a life-long commitment to improving the quality of life in the community and to furthering the importance of education. The award recognizes the life work of Virginia Chandler Dykes as an outstanding health care provider, whose professional and civic achievements represent a lifetime committed to helping others. Past award recipients are T. Boone Pickens, 2008; Lindalyn Adams, 2007; Dr. and Mrs. Kern Wildenthal, 2006; Gretchen Minyard Williams and J.L. “Sonny” Williams, 2005; Geraldine “Tincy” Miller, 2004; and Susan and Charles Cooper, 2003.
Caroline Rose Hunt is one who wears many hats: real estate mogul, beauty maven, author, traveler, gourmet, entrepreneur, philanthropist, mother of five, grandmother of nineteen, and great-grandmother of twelve. Mrs. Hunt purchased a Dallas Mansion, built in the 1920s, when it was about to be torn down, turning it into what is now Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Since its opening in 1980, her company name, Rosewood, has become synonymous with the very best in luxury accommodations. Amenities for the hotel in London led to her creation of Lady Primrose’s, an entire company devoted to luxury bathing and skin products. Her antiques emporium and tea room, Lady Primrose’s Shopping English Countryside, was named the best spot for tea in the US by the British Tea Council.
