Arlington reports 23 homicides for 2008
But wait wait wait, says the Arlington Police Department, four of those murders aren't technically for 2008. Apparently, two in the tally were first missing persons, one was shot in 2007 but died the next year, and another was initially thought to be an accidental death. The department doesn't record deaths as homicides until all the factors are clear, and sometimes that pushes them to the next year's statistical roll call.
Ok, so a mere 19 homicides in 2008. Phew, because 19 is, like, whatev.

David Hopkins, says:
How many of those homicides ended with a conviction of the guilty party? That's what I want to know.

David Hopkins, says:
Hold on.
"Two cases remain under investigation, said Lt. Blake Miller, an Arlington police spokesman. One has been forwarded to the Tarrant County district attorney’s office for grand jury review.
The others have been cleared, he said.
'Most of our homicides are relationship-oriented,' he said. 'We don’t have a lot of stranger homicides.' "
Well. That's good news.
