Fort Worth police investigate lottery ticket theft
Nancy Charlez, a Fort Worth mom, bought a scratch-off lottery ticket at the Mini Mart and then proceeded to take her infant girls to the doctor. Along with her was a "friend," who was helping her by watching Nancy's two other kids.
When the scratch-off ticket was found to be a $20,000 winner, the "friend" kindly offered to rush the ticket over to a nearby convenience store to verify it. But - dang it! - the friend returned ticketless, claiming that the ticket had been stolen - but now it's in the hands of the Texas Lottery Commission, who are holding it pending results of an investigation by Fort Worth Police.
Some friend.
