UT Austin professor to speak at SMU about human mating habits

Mating strategies: then and now

Mating strategies: then and now

Evolutionary psychologist and UT Austin professor David Buss, seen here overlooking a landscape that is clearly un-Texan, will speak at Southern Methodist University this coming Monday (Jan. 26) about the way men and women pursue each other for - um - "mating" purposes, and how those methods have evolved over thousands of years.

Hard as is might be to imagine, he's going to attempt to cover all this in a single evening's lecture, starting at 5 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center. The talk - dubbed "Strategies of Human Mating" - is free and open to the public.

No word on whether condoms will be handed out at the door, so you might want to bring along some quarters for that rusty, beat-up vending machine in the men's room.

For further information, call Professor Pia Vogel at 214-786-1790, or send an email to pvogel@smu.edu.

It would be interesting to understand the origins of the early cocktail bar caverns and guys showing off their wooly mammoth 'wheels'.
