League of Women Voters to host Arlington Park Systems Forum
On Tuesday, February 3, the Arlington League of Women Voters will host a forum about the Arlington Parks System at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.
The speakers will be Peter Jamieson, Director, Arlington Parks Department, and Lynn Healy, Chair of the City’s Parks and Recreation Board. A question and answer period will follow their presentations.
“This forum is being held as part of the Arlington League’s restudy and update of its position regarding City Parks and Recreation Facilities,” said Tonya Presley, LWVA President. “Local positions are the basis for recommendations we make to the City Council for improvements in Arlington”.
The League of Women Voters of Arlington, a non-profit and non-partisan organization of volunteers, holds frequent public forums on issues of concern to the community, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWVA’s mission is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. Membership is open to all citizens of voting age.
