Updated: North Texas to see icy weather Tuesday
Temperatures in North Texas will continue to dip below freezing throughout the day. That mixed with the precipitation in the forecast means "wintry mix," "ice pellets," "thundersleet," or your preferred word for frozen water falling from the sky. Several ISD's in the area have already closed and more may let out early if conditions worsen. If you do need to travel today, you may want to check traffic before you leave.
Update: Still no sign of freezing anything in downtown Fort Worth. Could those meteorologists have been (GASP) wrong? The horror.

I love the local media when it goes into "hyper weather mode". Nothing like wall to wall coverage on something that affects the northen half of the viewing area, while all us good folks in the city who deserve a day off get the short end of the weather stick from God Almighty himself...

Im laughing about it actually. I like how they hype these things up for ratings and it totally peters out..Its kind of a let down for everyone involved. Call it the 5th grader in me who always hoped for school to get cancelled due to bad weather.

It's not just the media that gets overwrought on these things. From one of my FB friend's status:
*XXXX would like to thank the UNT computerized "Eagle Alert" system for informing me - by a 5:30am phone call - that school is closed today. My class is Thursday. *

Snow days are only awesome if it actually snows to the point you can do ahem stuff in it.
I drove to Grapevine and back to pick my car up from a mechanic - live in North Dallas, left at 5:15, and was back by 6:45. To all yous who left work early or simply stayed home b/c it actually got below freezing: Thank you.

The system was slow getting here. I just took my dog down for his 10:00 wiz and everything is pretty much covered in ice and the sleet was really coming down. 28 degrees and getting nasty.
I'm sure the morning will see total fail.
Btw, I hope you all keep your electricity.
