DALLAS The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP announced today that Jeffrey A. Zlotky has been named managing partner of the firm. In addition to his new duties, Zlotky will continue to serve clients and maintain his individual practice in the area of corporate law.
Zlotky began his professional career at Thompson & Knight in 1985, immediately after graduating from The University of Texas School of Law. He previously served as a member of the firm’s management committee and currently serves as a board member for the Thompson & Knight Foundation.
Zlotky succeeds Peter J. Riley, who has led the 420-attorney firm since 2001.
“Jeff is a strong and respected lawyer, a strategic thinker, and a natural leader who will help guide us through this period of transition across our profession,” says Riley, who remains a member of the firm’s management committee and has been named to the newly formed position of chairman. “Jeff offers a wealth of experience in the energy field as well as domestic and international transactions of all types. This background aligns perfectly with both the history and the strategic direction of Thompson & Knight.”
Zlotky's practice has included the representation of private equity funds and institutional investors, particularly in the energy industry, in a wide range of mergers, acquisitions, and other multi-billion-dollar financial matters. He has extensive experience in the structuring, organization, and capitalization of private equity funds.
In addition to graduating with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in 1985, Zlotky served as associate editor of the school’s Texas Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at Princeton University in 1982.
“I am excited and humbled to be named managing partner of Thompson & Knight,” says Zlotky. “Pete Riley has been an exemplary leader in positioning the Firm for the future while honoring our culture and longstanding commitment to service. We will continue to build on this work and effectively meet the emerging demands and needs of our clients.”
