Eating and drinking events in Dallas-Fort Worth July 1-7
See all Food and Wine events
DALLAS While Fourth of July events do dominate this Fourth of July weekend, there's still plenty of eating and drinking to be done, holiday or not. Here's the picks:
Thursday
They do a different theme every week, and this week, it's "Pool Wines" -- roses and whites, great for the Fourth of July. Oops! Didn't mean to mention the Fourth of July.
Friday
Dinner & Fireworks at Sullivan's Steakhouse
After your delicious steak dinner, what better place than the third story of a parking garage to observe fireworks? Oh wait -- that's the Fourth of July.
Saturday
1st Ever Libertine Brass Knuckle Corndog Beatdown
The contest will pit a max of 25 competi-eaters against a 15-minute clock.
Basic rules: 1. Most eaten = 1st place (and so on) 2. Vomiting = disqualification 3. Entire corndog must be consumed when the clock is up or it doesn't count.
(Ha! Nothing there about the Fourth of July.)
Fourth of July dinner at Ferrari's
Both branches of Ferrari's are hosting holiday dinners: At Ferrari's Addison, it's a deluxe feast with a trio of meats -- filet mignon, shrimp, and lamb chop -- plus roasted garlic potatoes and green beans, and a glass of house wine; at Ferrari's in Grapevine, they're doing the deluxe feast but also a more casual combination of pizza with a flight of martinis for only $15. OK this is July-4th-related, but it's still a great deal.
Sunday
Fourth of July Wine Trail 2009
One ticket to Grapevine's Wine Trail gets you three tastings and a food sample at each participating winery, a souvenir wine glass, a select bottle of wine from one of the participating wineries, and a day of fun in beautiful historic downtown Grapevine.
Participating wineries include: Cross Timbers Winery, D'Vine Winery, Farina's Winery, Homestead Winery, Inwood Estates, La Bodega Winery, La Buena Vida Vineyards, and Su Vino Winery.

AnnMarie Wilson, says:
We were in Coppell for their Fireworks celebration on July 3 - outstanding!
Brave Combo played, it was on the lake... local, small business had vendor booths, lots for the kids (lots FREE for the kids); basketball, volleyball.
It felt like a community, neighborhood event. It felt like the Garland 4th use to before they moved it to a shopping mall.
Thank you Coppell - we had a 'blast'. Tonight, we're off to Mansfield (Brave Combo again).
