UPDATED: Texas Giant roller coaster stalled since Monday

Why is this relevant news?

Modern technology (not pictured).
Modern technology (not pictured).

A) Perhaps because the Fourth of July weekend approaches and Six Flags is one of those family activity sort of things. The Texas Giant in particular is nostalgic for park attendees who may be taking their kids to experience the wooden coaster.

B) My god if it isn't a slow news day so far.

In any case, the roller coaster has been stalled since Monday after a track technician noticed something wrong with one of the cars. A track misalignment is being blamed on the hot, dry weather. The park is vowing to fix the problem, but who knows by when.

Perhaps its just time to set fire to the thing to help pay off some of that debt load.

UPDATE: A safety inspector says that one car on the roller coaster lost its position on the track and began gouging the rails. Brooks Egerton sure does make it seem like the behavior of the Six Flags folks is fishy. They claimed a state inspector had cleared the ride, but the state says they don't have inspectors that do that. Then they said the malfunction was due to the heat.
