Dallas-based Aviall Services opens customer service center in Dubai

The Dubai location is patterned after the Aviall warehouse at its headquarters in Dallas.

Dallas-based Aviall Services, Inc. opened a new customer service center on June 25 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Conveniently located in the Dubai Airport Free Zone, and approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority, Aviall's new facility in Dubai will initially serve the commercial airline industry along with military customers and business aviation in the Middle East and later in Northern Africa.

Patterned after the Aviall warehouse at its headquarters in Dallas, the Dubai addition will provide supply chain services including order processing, stocking and fulfillment systems. The new facility will provide local stocking to support sales, marketing and distribution for more than 230 manufacturers of original aviation parts and equipment. Aviall's value-added services have proven to be attractive to its customers and the leading manufacturers in the aviation industry.

"To do the best job for both the manufacturers and the aviation operators we serve, we want to be local and take full advantage of our world-class systems and infrastructure. We're expanding our operations around the world to better serve our customers," said Dan Komnenovich, president and COO of Aviall Services, Inc. "Aviall is moving ahead aggressively as an industry-leading provider of aerospace and defense aftermarket parts and related support services."

Aviall, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, a unit of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, which is a unit of The Boeing Company. Aviall is a leading solutions provider of aftermarket supply-chain management services for the aerospace, defense and marine industries.

Aviall, which has headquarters in Dallas, is one of the world's largest providers of new aviation parts and related aftermarket operations. Aviall markets and distributes products for more than 225 manufacturers and offers approximately 1,000,000 catalog items from 39 customer service centers in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Aviall also provides maintenance for aviation batteries and wheels and brakes, as well as hose assembly, kitting, and paint-mixing services. The company offers a complete set of supply chain and logistics services, including order processing, stocking and fulfillment, automated inventory management, and reverse logistics to OEMs and customers.

Russ Vandeveerdonk, says:

People may not understand, but Dubai, U.A.E. has many, many new jobs available. Even Starwood Hotels (the westin resorts)is hiring over there. It may seem far away, but the pay is good. Actually it is very far away, almost another planet! But that option is there in case anyone is out there job hunting right now! Great idea for a single male or female to move and work over there.

I'm going to assume that your post Russ, is complete sarcasm.

Harper's has an excellent article on the entire nightmare that is Dubai - http://www.harpers.org/archive/2009/0...

..."But the construction of The Lagoons, along with many other extravagant projects in Dubai, had been put “on hold,” maybe for good. The story I heard—and Dubai is full of stories these days—was that the primary developer on the project was in jail, held on multiple charges of corruption and bribery...."

That will get you the intro; try your library for the full story.

There's a lot more out there - I suggest you read up. And for heaven's sake don't lose your job over there and have any debt - they'll lock you away, take your passport and you don't get out until everything is paid off. Hard to do without a job. People are terrified.
