Cowboys’ paralyzed scout hires Dallas lawyer
DALLAS Rich Behm, the Cowboys' scouting assistant who was recently paralyzed, has hired Dallas lawyer Frank Branson to represent him. One news source calls Branson a real "legal eagle."
Though no suits have been filed yet, Branson did ask a Dallas County court for "a pre-litigation deposition of Nathan Stobbe, president of facility builder Summit Structures and its parent, Cover-All Building Systems" last month. Branson told Morning News reporter Brooks Egerton that Stobbe agreed to be questioned, and someone has already turned over some documentation.
There are two other important points to this story, and we shall number them for your viewing pleasure.
1. Branson says Behm won't sue the Cowboys cuz he can't: Behm is covered by workers' comp, and that means he can't sue the team.
2. When the firm who built the unstable facility was hired, the Cowboys knew that one of their tents had already collapsed in Philadelphia. It seems "construction flaws" and "major engineering errors" were to blame, which we think should have been a concern since this firm was hired to, you know, construct the Cowboys' facility and -- I'll say it -- engineer it, too. In response, Stobbe wrote this statement at the time: "Summit's reputation in the industry for constructing high-quality buildings is well-recognized." Apparently not.
