At 7:30 p.m. on July 8, the Dallas Center for Architecture (1909 Woodall Rodgers Fwy., Ste. 100) will serve up a screening of the feature-length HBO documentary film, My Architect.
The film -- made by Nathaniel Kahn, about his famous father Louis I. Kahn -- reveals hidden secrets of the life of the man who (among other things) designed the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth.
Many historians considered Kahn to be the most important architect of the 20th century. Amazingly, he died -- penniless and unrecognized -- in the men's room of New York City's Penn Station in 1974, leaving behind (Nathaniel later discovered) three families who knew nothing about each other.
In the course of the documentary, fellow architectural greats I.M. Pei, Frank Gehry and Philip Johnson are each interviewed on camera.
Admission to this presentation will cost you a $10 donation (tax deductible) to the Dallas Center for Architecture.
