Retired Garland schoolteacher has collection of 118 rescued turtles
GARLAND Rose Schroeder, a retired schoolteacher in Garland, has a collection of 118 rescued turtles, for which she has created a sanctuary in her backyard. They range in size from "bottlecap" all the way up to, well, the story doesn't say how big the biggest one is, but one would assume it is not larger than Schroeder, who admits to whacking them once in a while if they get out of line. It's become a bit of an obsession for the lady who's considering putting a turtle on her tombstone.
