UPDATED: Dallas Mavericks will trade for Marion, make Gortat an offer
It's a busy day for the Dallas Mavericks as they move closer to adding two likely starters to the 2009-10 roster.
Dallas has been courting 6'7" swingman Shawn Marion for a little bit now, but needed some pieces to fall into place in order to strike a trade with Toronto. The pieces included a third team to absorb Jerry Stackhouse's guaranteed $2 million for the year, which is predicted to be Oklahoma or Memphis. The Marion deal is expected to be completed later today.
Dallas also penned an offer to 6'11" center Marcin Gortat. While the Orlando Magic aren't expected to match Dallas' offer of 5 years starting at $5.854 million/year, they do intend to wait the full seven days before following up.
UPDATE: Marion is tweeting now that he's a Maverick. Seems the deal is done.
