There'll be no shortage of tired Mariner fans tomorrow morning.
The Texas Rangers got back to their winning ways against the AL West Friday night, defeating the Mariners 6-4 in Seattle. The win improved Texas to 48-37, at least a half-game ahead of the surging LA Angels for first place in the division.
Rangers starter Scott Feldman continued his unlikely rise to pitching prominence, allowing just two runs on seven hits over six-plus innings. Feldman, who walked just one batter, is now 8-2 with a 3.83 ERA. Frank Francisco pitched a scoreless ninth for his 15th save.
All of the Rangers' offense came via home run Friday, with Michael Young leading the charge with a three-run shot in the top of the third to put the Rangers up for good. Hank Blalock launched a solo shot in the second, while Nelson Cruz hit his 21st home run of the year in the top of the eighth, a two-run blast that provided the game-winning runs.
