Dallas Stonewall Young Democrats send five delegates to Young Democrats convention

DALLAS — Dallas Stonewall Young Democrats, an LGBT civil rights organization, announced that it will to send five delegates to the Young Democrats of America National Convention. The convention, August 5 - 9 in Chicago, is one of the largest Democratic Party events. DSYD delegates will represent Texas and vote on resolutions, party platform, and leadership.

The delegates are:

* Matt Burckhalter – vice president, DSYD; treasurer, Texas Young Democrats; board member, Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus

* Jennifer Allen – secretary, DSYD

* Pennington Ingley – treasurer, DSYD; chair, Texas Young Democrats Stonewall Caucus

* Paul Tran – political director, DSYD; board of directors, Equality Texas; doctoral candidate, UT Dallas

* Michael Austin – sustaining member, DSYD; doctoral candidate, UT Dallas

DSYD will host a pool party fundraiser on Sunday, August 2 to help pay the delegates' convention expenses, including flight, hotel, and registration. The pool party will be hosted by local residents Tim Chaney and Dan Hall at their home, 7044 Royal Lane, from 3 - 7 p.m.

One of DSYD's missions is to get LGBT-friendly Democrats elected to office.
