Apparently, some people are used to writing checks in the quadrillions.

Apparently, some people are used to writing checks in the quadrillions.

A technical glitch via Visa's billing department led Jon Seale of Trophy Club to receive a $23,148,855,308,184,500 credit card statement (that's $23 quadrillion, folks). The charge in question came from Wolfgang Puck's new restaurant, Five Sixty, which is expensive, but not that expensive.

Seale said, "For that amount of money, I could actually own Wolfgang Puck himself." Actually, Mr. Seale, many people would say that Puck is priceless.

This is the third story I've read about this happening...

... and the amount has been the same in each case.

Someone suspected that a careless clerk simply forgot to move the cursor off of the amount field before swiping the card, resulting in the card number being appended to the total. But unless Mr. FiveSixty is also from New Hampshire, and is also a teenage girl, and happens to have bought exactly $2.31 worth of stuff at each location... it seems unlikely.
