Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth July 16-19

A couple of local CD releases and big national names lead us into SOCCER SUNDAY!

Thursday

Rise Against, oh yes, Rise Against. The rockers (punkers, kinda) with a message (a slew of messages, really, political and otherwise) come back to the Palladium Ballroom. But that's not all, no. Rise Against will share the stage with Rancid. The excitement bar is really just set too high.

Friday

Josh Weathers & the True+Endeavors bring the funk and a new CD to their release party at the Longhorn Saloon on Friday.

Rhett Butler and Billy McLaughlin play McDavid Studio.

And, ugh, sigh, hem, haw ... New Kids on the Block will be at the Superpages.com Center with Jabbawockeez.

Saturday

Saturday has a bevy of interesting affairs, starting with Hendrick's CD release party at the Granada. Sporting an ever maturing sound, without losing the love of the love song, band members Josh Hendrick and Jay Briggs stopped by to talk about the new album, Exhale, and preview a few of the tracks.

The number one female DJ in, you know, just the WORLD is coming to the Lizard Lounge for a Birthday Bash. Truth be told, DJ Irene's been celebrating this birthday at several stops, but if you need it to be special to see her spin, just think cake.

The Killdares take Celtic rock to the House of Blues and are always a sure thing for a good time.

But if you want to gamble, try out A Midsummer Night's Pandemonium at Club Dada. Featuring several DJs spinning throughout the night and video and art installations, the event also promises a "fire playing freakshow," for what it's worth.

Sunday

Aerosmith and ZZ Top stop by, pop in, hop on over to Superpages on Sunday.

But this PegNewser will be checking out music of the drum and plastic horn variety, played by non-professionals watching the world's greatest game. The CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals provide the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington with it's first ever sporting event. Here's to many GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLs.

See something we missed? Let us know in the comments. Don't forget to check out the daily Peg Picks for more event suggestions from Pegasus News staffers.
