Carrollton little league team wins District 8 championship

The 11-12 Carrollton Little League All-Star team became the District 8 champions on Saturday, July 11 at The Colony Five Star Complex. The Carrollton team played in a field of 14 leagues, which include Carrollton, The Colony, North Garland, South Garland, Garner, Wylie, Cedar Creek, Denison, West Dallas, Dallas Alliance, Dallas, Forney, McKinney, and North McKinney.

Carrollton went into the losers bracket with a first game loss to South Garland in a 6-5 last inning battle. Carrollton then changed their game plan and defeated Garner 16-3 in their first elimination game. The team then went on to defeat The Colony 11-1, then beating the Dallas team 11-1, followed by a win over Wylie 20-4. Carrollton then faced off against North Garland in the Finals and Carrollton became the new District 8 champions by a score of 9-4! The Carrollton team outscored their opponents 72-19 and featured 3 homeruns.

Carrollton will now advance to the Section 2 Tournament in Abilene. Their first game was Wednesday, July 14 at 7 p.m. vs. Abilene Dixie Little League.

Winning District brings the Carrollton team one step closer to reaching the highly coveted Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn.
