Club Dada to close not closing again for two months

Updated 03:22 p.m., July 20, 2009

After reopening following some TABC unsettling, Club Dada now re-closes for two months.

Recent health inspections noted violations, mostly in appliances used behind the bar. Co-owner Ben Tapia says that he's fed up with the state of the venue and will close for the two months to address the violations and possibly to renovate.

UPDATE: As comments on this site and the Dallas Observer indicate, Club Dada, in fact, did/will not close for two months time. We called and emailed the club this morning and will update with what the "f" is going on as soon as we find out.

Needless to say...

Needless to say...

UPDATEx2: With a little more detail and confirmation we can say that Club Dada is all good in the (Deep Ellum) hood for now. They made some of the repairs/inspection requests and were open to 250+ over the weekend for the KNON benefit. Other planned renovations will happen over time, and there may be a few days here and there that the club closes, but so far there are no predictions for lengthy closings.

Seeing that Trees is about to open, its going to be an interesting next few months in my neighborhood. From who ive talked to in the hood about DaDa, all the equipment in question was inherited from the former owners, which makes it at least 15-20 yrs old. If swapping out the hardware makes the place more desirable, it'll be a good investment.

weren't they like renovating a side-room or something already? I dunno, just remember something about closing down the bar and making some changes long before this stuff happened...

Speaking of Trees, chrisdanger (and everyone else, of course), we've just added the newly reopening venue's shows to the Trees page.

We'll have to snag a new picture since the front is all painted up now, but that's coming.

James, I think you're thinking of the new-ish "Listening Room," which was completed.

Probably so, Mike. It shows I haven't been down there in a while...I guess it will be even longer now.

Hooray for Trees!

The violations are not so bad that we'll close for 2 months. Two days were all. we were open for business last night (Saturday) for the Rocket Radio Benefit, and drew 250+ patrons.

We're open tonight for the David Garza show. Monday, we'll be open for the Stellar Corpses show. In fact, we have a show every night this week to next Sunday.

The Rumors of DaDa's demise are premature and patently untrue. Come out tonight for David Garza and see for yourselves.

Long Live Da Da!
