Cedar Hill City Council earns Council of The Year honor
I kid the Cedar Hill City Council a lot about their 10-minute meetings and lack of controversy, but they’ve got a good thing going. Now they’ve earned statewide recognition for it. At last night’s meeting, the Texas City Management Association presented the Cedar Hill City Council with the "Council of The Year" Award.
This award goes to a council that has made significant contribution to local government in Texas. TCMA President Courtney Sharp praised the good works of the council during the award presentation.
"Council members are "super volunteers’ within their community. They give their time for the betterment of the community and work together to find common ground, sometimes agreeing to disagree to make progress," Sharp said. "They are representatives of the citizens, responsible for knowing the pulse of the community. This sometimes means receiving/answering those late night phone calls. Great councils are patient. Patient with the process that takes longer than anticipated, patient with citizens and their concerns, and patient with each other.
Sharp commended the Cedar Hill council for exemplifying the qualities that make a good council. Kudoes to the Cedar Hill Council for its big honor.
