Arlington Mayor Pro Tem Lana Wolff will be on hand at City Hall Courtyard on Monday, July 20 at 9 a.m. to officially welcome cyclists engaged in a 4,000 mile cross-country trip.
The cyclists -- who started out in San Francisco on their way to Washington, D.C. -- are part of the 2009 Journey of Hope, designed to raise awareness (and money) for people with disabilities.
Cyclists will be in Arlington for three days. On Sunday, July 19 at 6 p.m. they'll play a game of wheelchair basketball with the UT Arlington Movin’ Mavs at the UTA Maverick Activity Center, 550 W. Nedderman Dr. (Admission is free.)
On Tuesday (July 21) at 2 p.m., cyclists will accompany children with disabilities to the swimming pool for some fun and recreation at the Bad Konigshofen Family Aquatic Center, 2800 W. Sublett Rd.
For information about these and other activities, contact Ellen Brooke at 817-459-6143, or at Ellen.Brooke@arlingtontx.gov.
